Details: Charles Spencer “Charlie” Chaplin (1889-1971) was a comic actor, movie director, and one of the founders of United Artists Pictures, a major Hollywood film studio. This release consists of two types of files, one involving a White Slave Traffic Act (or interstate prostitution) investigation and a domestic security file concerning Chaplin’s ties to communist organizations in the U.S. The dates range from 1922 to 1978. The Vault The Vault is a new F.B.I FOIA Library, containing 6,700 documents and other media that have been scanned from paper into digital copies so you can read them in the comfort of your home or office. Included here are many new FBI files that have been released to the public but never added to an online website; dozens of records previously posted on the F.B.I site but removed as requests diminished; files from our previous FOIA Library, and new, previously unreleased files.
